Jermaine La Jaune Jackson is an American singer, songwriter, bassist and a member of the Jackson family. In The Jackson Five with his four brothers from 1964 to 1975, he was the second singer after brother Michael and played the bass guitar, and from 1983 joined their successor, The Jacksons. Jermaine has appeared in some of the greatest hits of the Jackson Five and has appeared in "I'll Be There" and "I Want You Back" among others. When the other four left and had to reorganize into The Jacksons, Jermaine, who had just married the daughter Hazel of Motown founder Berry Gordy, remained in Motown and was replaced by his younger brother Randy. Jermaine had a concurrent solo career with his brother Michael and several Top 30 hits in the 1980s, producing and recording duets with Whitney Houston in his 1985 debut, and producer for Band Switch. After seven years he joined the Jacksons and stayed throughout their various breakups and reunions.
